Katie Holmes spent a considerable amount of time away from the big screen after marrying Tom Cruise and having daughter Suri. However, now that she’s a free woman again, Hollywood critics say we are likely to see a whole lot more of Katie.
The once big-eyed and bright spirited young woman we grew to love on the teen soap “Dawson’s Creek” became just a shadow of her former self after marrying the “Mission Impossible” actor.
However, Katie wasn’t completely out of the limelight during her married years, appearing in a 2008 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” and making guest appearances on the sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and the legal drama “Eli Stone.”
Now, it appears as though Katie’s acting career is blossoming again with new projects, including a modern adaptation of Chekhov’s “The Seagull,” which just finished shooting, as well as the upcoming film “Molly,” which she actually co-wrote and produces.
The film seems to have foreshadowed what was to come in her personal life, telling the tale of a single mother and daughter.
“It could be a brand-new beginning for Katie Holmes,” says Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian. “Holmes was definitely on the rise and obviously took a left turn and got into a relationship with Tom Cruise, which kind of overshadowed her career and slowed her momentum.”
