Chad E. Rankin was born and raised in Lancaster County by blue collar parents. Chad’s father spent almost his entire working career with Armstrong at the floor plant in Lancaster. His mother worked at Hamilton Watch prior to working a number of other jobs and raising her children. He graduated from Penn Manor High School where he was the captain of the baseball team his senior year, wrestled, was the #1 player on the golf team all four years, and served as the Varsity Club President.
Chad graduated college from the very progressive and selective Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington where he took the extra step to design the curriculum for his senior year – 9 months in Japan, Thailand, and India. “For basically every waking moment of my senior year, I was learning about myself, humanity, and these cultures.” When Chad returned, he employed one of the lessons he learned – the need to give back to the community. He devoted the next three years to helping people with Prader-Willi Syndrome through Community Services Group in Mountville. Chad got married to Jodi Swartz. They both moved to New Hampshire where Jodi taught high school and Chad graduated from the University of New Hampshire law school in 2001. Chad represented and won a number of worker’s compensation cases for injured SEIU workers while still in law school. He also served as the student body president during his tenure in law school.
Chad returned to Lancaster in 2001 with Jodi to start a family and his legal career. In his first job with Mikus Law Associates, he continued to represent people injured in products liabilty cases, car crashes, premise liability, and work injuries. He spent a year clerking with the Honorable Joseph C. Madenspacher, President Judge of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. Then, he joined another personal injury firm where he spent the next eight years successfully representing people from Lancaster and the surrounding counties in personal injury and workers compensation cases. Chad decided it was time to start his own firm. He joined forces with Bill Gregory and RG Injury Law was born.
Chad has extensive experience litigating personal injury cases and workers’ compensation cases. His peers have given him an AV rating, which is the highest rating available for a lawyer.
Chad continues to be involved with his family and the community. He has two children who are, frankly, growing up too fast. He coaches his childrens’ baseball, soccer, softball, and basketball teams. Chad also enjoys hunting, fishing, and working on his land. He served on the board of directors for the Lancaster Bar Association where he also served as the Chairperson for the Young Lawyers in 2004, the Threshold Foundation, and the Central Market Trust.
