She just wanted to ensure that Suri would have financial security as she becomes an adult. It’s a sizable trust fund, but Suri won’t be able to fully legally claim it until she is in her 30s. Tom had no problem with the request and planned on doing it for Suri anyway.”

While Suri may have gotten a pretty penny, Katie, well, not so much. The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, which stipulates that Katie will not be getting any of Tom’s millions. But the last thing the former “Dawson’s Creek” starlet needs is a hand out.

Study Shows Men More Likely to Turn to Alcohol Post-Divorce

A new study shows that men are more likely to turn to drinking after a divorce than women.

While married, men as a whole do not drink as much as their bachelor counterparts, but the study revealed that an increasing number of men turn to alcohol in their time of need.

Conversely, married women drink more than their single friends and drink less post-divorce.

“Marriage and divorce have different consequences for men’s and women’s alcohol use,” said the study’s author Corinne Reczek to Health Day. “For men, it’s tempered by being married and exacerbated by being divorced.”

In a long-term study, Reczek, an assistant professor in sociology at the University of Cincinnati, and her team analyzed the behavior of 5,305 people in Wisconsin. The team then conducted in-depth interviews with 120 of the participants to determine why their drinking habits had changed.

This isn’t the first study to show a correlation between marital status and alcohol consumption. In 2004, a study conducted by Australian National University suggested that married couples generally drink less than singles. Last year, a study out of the Cardiff University suggested that couples who are happily married engage in healthier eating habits than single or unhappily married persons.

Kenny G Files for Divorce

After being separated from his wife for seven months, Kenny G has decided to file for divorce.

The 56-year-old jazz musician, whose real name is Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, has cited irreconcilable differences in his Aug. 9 petition for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Balynda Helene Benson-Gorelick.

Benson-Gorelick was the one to file for legal separation in January, also citing irreconcilable differences. She has requested full physical custody of the couple’s young child, Noah, 14, while Kenny G is asking for joint custody.

Tom Cruise is reportedly on the hunt for a new home in New York to be closer to 6-year-old daughter Suri.  Cruise currently resides in California but has plans to move closer to his ex-wife Katie Holmes and Suri in Manhattan, NY.

“This isn’t really working out, it’s a difficult situation,” said Brand of the marriage. “I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other … it mostly didn’t work for practical reasons … We did work it out, she’s happy, I’m happy.”

Regarding the alimony he could have been entitled to – half of Perry’s 40-plus million – Brand said he had no interest in taking Perry’s money and is happy with his own job.
