Tom Cruise Looks for New Pad Post-Divorce

Tom Cruise is reportedly on the hunt for a new home in New York to be closer to 6-year-old daughter Suri.  Cruise currently resides in California but has plans to move closer to his ex-wife Katie Holmes and Suri in Manhattan, NY.

“Tom’s looking for a new home here. He wants a fresh start. He doesn’t want to go back to the East Village apartment where he was living with Katie,” said a source, according to the New York Post. “He’s looking for something that’s very private where he won’t have to deal with going through a lobby, and people outside all the time.”

Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise unexpectedly in June, but what was even more shocking was how quickly the proceedings were finalized.

Cruise received word of Holmes’ plans while on location in Iceland filming his latest move.  What he would soon come to realize was that Holmes had been carefully planning the divorce for quite some time.

Primary child custody was given to Holmes, but Cruise has visitation rights.

Mesa center helps women cope with life after divorce

MESA, Arizona – A divorce help center in Mesa helps women cope with the struggles of divorce.

A divorce is not an easy thing to undergo, and many people need help in order to cope with the new life they are about to face.

The Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center knows that a divorce is not the end, but the beginning of a new life – a life that does not have to be filled with pain and sorrow.

Since 1992, the Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center has been working with women in legal, career and counseling areas.

The center was created by the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation and opened its first satellite office in Mesa last September. Since then, over 200 clients have sought the help of the experts at the center, whether it was for career assistance or counseling.

“I was having troubles with my soon-to-be ex. I had specific questions on how to facilitate the divorce. I was giving him the power,” explained Denise Jones, 40. “They [Fresh Start] tell you step-by-step what’s going to happen with the judge. It’s intimidating. You’re scared. They make it so you’re empowered.”

When she went to court for her divorce, she had all her documents on hand and ready to go, which is more than some other people can say.

“There were people who didn’t have all their ducks in a row as much as I did.”

The center can help women who are going through a divorce, legal separation or who have been recently widowed.

At first, new clients begin by attending a Fresh Start 101 class that introduces them to all of the center’s available services. Then, depending on their individual needs, the clients may meet with a legal document preparer, mentor, support group or career coach.

“We really want it [Fresh Start] to be a sanctuary,” said Alexis Christensen, director of development for Fresh Start. “When women are ready to make a change, that’s when they come to us.”

Even after the divorce proceedings are finalized, some women still turn to Fresh Start for help with other aspects of their lives. The center has helped many people gain their confidence back and learn to live a new life on their own.

“I was married for 17 years. You get so used to having that other person there,” she says. “I wasn’t so scared of any of my new life [following the divorce]. There is so much support.”

While centers such as this one may help a person bounce back from their divorce or separation, the actual process of filing for divorce is a very technical matter and you need to ensure that you have an expert on your side every step of the way. If you are in the midst of a divorce battle yourself, turn to a top divorce lawyer for assistance to make sure you walk away from your case with your full share of benefits.

Divorce attorneys are here to help you divide your property, assets and debt accordingly and to make sure your partner leaves you with the short end of the stick. They also serve as mediators between you and your spouse to prevent small arguments from escalating into major disputes. Trust that when you have an elite divorce lawyer working on you case, your proceedings will finalize quickly and in your favor.
