ATV accident in Jackson Parish

The accident occurred Friday, February 3rd, in Kentwood, Louisiana. The accident left Jamie Lynn Spears’ 8-year-old daughter, Maddie Aldridge in critical condition.

The Daily Advertiser reports that Maddie was riding was on a hunting expedition when the ATV she was riding flipped over in a pond. She was reportedly submerged underwater for at least two minutes before she was rushed to the hospital.

Reports say Maddie was wearing a safety belt when she overturned.

After the crash, Britney Spears got on Twitter and asked for prayers for her niece.

As of Monday, February 6th, Maddie was off the respirator and was conscious, according to the Daily Advertiser.

Children under the age of 16 account for 23 percent of ATV fatalities according to Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Prevalence of ATV accidents

ATVs, or all-terrain vehicles, are not automobiles, so there no age restrictions on riders. That is why teens and children are often injured or killed in ATV accidents.
