Well, things have definitely taken a turn in an odd direction for Glenn Beck, Tomi Lahren, and The Blaze network. Tomi Lahren, recognized as a conservative who hosted her own segment on The Blaze network, has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Glenn Beck and the network itself. According to several different news sources, including FOX News, Lahren made an appearance on The View where she voiced her opinion regarding women’s rights and how she was in favor of abortion rights.
The statement below was the one made by Lahren, and is the one she believes sparked the wrongful termination.
“I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies.”
Lahren, who was under contract and expected to have her segment remain on air for a longer period of time, was recently informed that the show was canceled after she appeared on The View, where she shared her pro-choice viewpoints. After having her show removed from the lineup, Lahren’s Texas employment law attorney highlighted that the media outlet breached their contract agreement with Lahren by doing so.
While Lahren’s attorney claims she was fired, The Blaze network is coming forward stating she was merely suspended and was still receiving the earnings she was promised in her contract. Yet, according to the lawsuit, Lahren “received a call from The Blaze stating that her employment was terminated and she would have no more shows.” Having a show suspended and having it terminated implies two different things which could mean one party isn’t exactly being upfront with the facts surrounding this matter.
In any event, a spokesperson for the network has come forward stating that “It is puzzling that an employee who remains under contract (and it still being paid) has sued us for being fired, especially when we continue to comply fully with the terms of our agreement with her.” According to Lahren, she has been prohibited from using her Facebook account where she has acquired nearly four million followers as well.
What’s the real story behind Lahren’s “termination?”
While it is still uncertain as to what Lahren and Becks true intentions are, accusations are being tossed around. Is Lahren attempting to thrown her team at the network under the bus because her show was canceled? Did the network fire her or suspend her? Perhaps The Blaze has grown tired of Lahren’s behavior as they have made comments stating it hasn’t been very pleasant working with her.
But Lahren has grown a number of fans of her own after having her own segment on air and perhaps she was looking for an outlet that would allow her to break away from the company without breaching her own contract. Maybe she was attempting to slip into the slot that recently opened up when Fox News decided to fire Bill O’Reilly over the numerous sexual harassment lawsuits that were filed against him. Whether that is the case or not, Glenn Beck has decided to fight back against these accusations and filed his own suit against Lahren.
Both have hired a Texas employment law lawyer and are claiming each has failed to follow through with the terms set in the contracts they agreed to.
