Matthew D. Rogenes
Matthew D. Rogenes joined Smith Stag in 2015, as an associate in the environmental pollution and mineral royalties group.
The son of a preacher originally from northeastern Montana, Matthew graduated from Glasgow High School in 2005, before attending the University of Montana where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. After college Matthew worked in the oil fields in North Dakota where he witnessed first-hand how often environmental and worker-safety regulations were disregarded for the true company line – profits. These experiences inspired Matthew to go into the practice of law in order to ensure accountability in those who would choose to ignore their obligations toward human health and environmental stewardship. Matthew has experience in litigation involving environmental pollution, mineral royalty disputes, NORM litigation, toxic torts, and mass torts.
Matthew received his J.D., in 2015 from Tulane University Law School. During his time at Tulane, Matthew received honors in Trial Advocacy. He was an active member of the Tulane Environmental Law Program, and a student attorney for the Tulane Domestic Violence Clinic. Matthew also worked as a research assistant for Professor Oliver Houck. He served as a law clerk for the District Attorney’s Office in Juneau, Alaska, as well as Smith Stag L.L.C.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys the outdoors, music, playing sports, and good company.
