A wrongful death lawsuit can be filed on behalf of a decedent who was killed in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence.
Losing a loved one in an accident similar to this often leaves families devastated, shocked, and unaware of what to do. While it is clear nothing can bring that person back, there are forms of legal action that can be taken to hold a driver accountable when they make a mistake that led to the accident occurring. For instance, after losing a family member, you may be entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit and demand that compensation be paid for the damages brought on. In other instances, you can even push for punitive damages to be awarded as this serves as a form of punishment to deter the negligent driver and other’s like him/her from engaging in similar behavior.
