A father is now facing several charges after he allegedly caused a drunk driving accident back in January that killed one of his son’s and injured his other. According to MRT, Adrian Hyde was driving in Powder Springs, GA when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree. He had his 11-year-old son and his 13-year-old son in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident. Sadly, the 11-year-old did not survive.
Cobb County police stated that after they located an open bottle of Seagram’s Gin in the glove box of Hyde’s vehicle, an arrest warrant was issued. However, it has taken nearly seven months for charges to be filed against Hyde because “in cases where everyone has severe injuries there is instead a rush to gather evidence,” said Police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk. Hyde is now being charged with vehicular homicide and DUI child endangerment. He is currently being detained without bond and it hasn’t yet been reported if he plans to hire an Atlanta, GA DUI defense attorney to represent him in his case.

Teen Dies in What Police Suspect was a Drunk Driving Accident

Another unfortunate accident occurred in Gwinnett County that left one teen dead and another severely injured. CBS 46 reported that back at the end of June, two teens were driving west on University Parkway when their vehicle left the roadway. It then went into an embankment and rolled several times before it came to a rest. The incident occurred late at night near the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway in Dacula.
The source reported that both teens were ejected from the vehicle and the driver, Alissa Harvey, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger who had been traveling with her was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and was said to be in critical condition at that time. Police are under the impression that both alcohol and speed were factors in this crash although they haven’t yet confirmed this. Police were conducting their investigation and it could take a significant period of time before it concludes.
When a person chooses to drive drunk, whether they are a teen or an adult, they often neglect to take into account just how dangerous it is. Many feel they are capable of driving despite their blurry vision and clouded mind and ignore the signs their body gives off that indicates they aren’t. Although many are lucky to make it to their destination safely, these two accidents are a prime example of what could happen when you choose to drive drunk.
