Impairment is likely to have caused fatal car accident in Largo, Florida
A fatal accident occured in December 2021 that police believe was alcohol-related. The accident happened on December 4, 2021, around 1:55 a.m. in Largo at the intersection of East Bay Drive and 8th Street Northeast. Patch.com reported that a red Toyota had been driving east on East Bay Drive when the driver attempted to pass the vehicle ahead of it.
While attempting to perform the maneuver, the Toyota collided into the vehicle it was passing and then veered right to the curb. The motorist then overcompensated and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into traffic heading west on East Bay Drive.
The driver of the Toyota then struck a Nissan head on, causing the driver of that vehicle to suffer fatal injuries. A passenger in the Toyota also suffered injuries. Although an investigation still needed to be conducted, police stated that the driver of the Toyota had shown signs of impairment.
