Undocumented immigrants across the state of Georgia and many others are more at risk of being arrested and deported than ever before. If you are an undocumented immigrant, looking to obtain citizenship, or one of your family members was arrested by ICE, you need Atlanta immigration attorney Charles Kuck representing you.
In a recent statement provided by ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency) spokesman Bryan Cox, it seems as though immigrants from various countries are left with no other choice but to go into hiding in fear of being forced out of the county. The statement read: “ICE will no longer exempt classes or categories of removable aliens from potential enforcement. All of those in violation of immigration laws may be subject to immigration arrest, detention, and if found removable by final order, removal from the United States.” That statement was highlighted on ajc.com on April 13, 2017 and implies that if you are currently living in the U.S. without proper authorization, you risk being arrested and deported back to your home country.
ICE is Working to Remove Somalian’s from Parts of Georgia
While every immigrant in the U.S. should be worried as President Donald Trump continues to push with full force with his attempts to remove undocumented immigrants from the country, some light was recently shed on Somalian’s living in the Atlanta, GA area. As of recently, ICE has begun “arresting Somali nationals in parts of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties that have long been havens for newcomers.” Clarkston too has been identified with having high populations of Somalian’s as well. But, ICE isn’t having it anymore and seems to be cracking down on these counties along with many others in various states including Texas.
In an operation in February, ICE detained nearly 680 unauthorized immigrants, 87 from Georgia. In early April, 10 arrests were made in Clarkston, Stone Mountain, and in Gwinnett according to Omar Shekhey who is the executive director for the Somali American Community Center in Clarkston. But, Somalian’s aren’t the only ones who need to worry.
With President Trump’s attempts at issuing a temporary ban on visitors from Somalia along with five other counties that are predominately Muslim along with refugees from around the world, more and more news sources are reporting the actions that are being taken in different states against anyone who doesn’t meet the requirements to legally live there.
