ABOUT Berry Law Firm

Committed trial attorneys with over 240+ years of combined legal experience. Fighting for our clients’ rights since 1965.

If you have been charged with a state or federal offense, the outcome of your case could affect your future, your family, and your employment. Unfortunately, many persons who are arrested do not understand the importance of retaining counsel immediately to protect their rights. They may believe they can clear up the matter themselves or they may be too embarrassed to contact a lawyer.

Regardless of the alleged crime, an attorney with focused experience in criminal defense can be the difference between maintaining your freedom and suffering harsh penalties and lifelong repercussions.

Founded by attorney John S. Berry Sr., the Berry Law Firm has been defending the constitutional rights of clients since 1965. Thousands of clients have trusted us with their cases and their futures. Our knowledgeable attorneys have more than 80 years of combined legal experience and continue to provide aggressive representation to individuals charged with crimes in Nebraska and throughout the U.S.

John Stevens Berry Sr. attended Stanford University (B.A. 1960) and Northwestern University (J.D. 1965). He is a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and is a past president of the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He has attended both the Infantry Officers' Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, and the Judge Advocate General's Course at Charlottesville, Virginia. As a captain in Vietnam, he received the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Medal of Honor First Class (Gold), the Cross of Gallantry with Palm and numerous other awards and decorations. He authored Those Gallant Men , a book about his experiences as a lawyer in a combat zone, which included defending members of the 5th Special Forces against murder charges. The memoir was chosen Book of the Month by the Military Book Club.

For over a decade, Berry maintained a local radio show while practicing law. "The John Stevens Berry Show" first aired on KLIN and then on KZUM. Throughout his career Mr. Berry has defended clients in hundreds of jury trials. He currently practices extensively in the areas of criminal defense and veterans law.
