Kilmer, Voorhees & Laurick, PC was established in 1985 on the principle that lawyers work best in an environment that encourages an open, creative philosophy for building professionalism and excellence in the art of advocacy. The firm was built on the vision of its founder, Jeff Kilmer, and founding partners Steve Voorhees and James Laurick. In addition to high standards of professional development, the founders encouraged a wholesome and family-oriented environment.

In 1986, Gregory Snook joined the firm bringing his unsurpassed legal research, analytical and writing skills to the firm. His contributions have led to many of the firm's victories.

In 1994, Christopher Carson joined the firm having practiced with the group earlier for several years. Chris has assumed a key management role within the firm and subsequently accepted a full shareholder position in 2006.

In 2008, Peter Viteznik joined the firm adding depth and expertise in business, real estate and construction litigation. Pete is recognized as one of the leaders in construction law in Oregon. In 2009 he accepted a full shareholder position.

In 2008, Robert Muth joined the firm. Before joining the firm, Robert was a shareholder with a local firm and most recently in-house counsel with a large construction company. His practice includes construction litigation, transactional work, real property, insurance and commercial matters . Robert has appeared in courts in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, California , Washington and Oregon.

In 2010, Bob Miller joined the firm. Bob's civil trial practice fits well with KVL's philosophy for client service and strong advocacy. Before joining the firm, Bob was a shareholder with the Bullivant law firm where he served terms as the chair of the firm litigation practice and commercial litigation practice.

In addition to our shareholders, the firm has several key associates that enhance our offerings with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Graham Sweitzer joined the firm in 2006. Donnie Kolb became affiliated with the firm 2008. Kurt Peterson joined the firm in 2011 and Candice Broock joined the firm in 2012.

2005 saw the addition of key staff members. Douglas Swayne was brought in to manage the company in the role of Firm Administrator and Bob Patterson was hired as the Litigation Support Manager.

In 1995, the firm moved from an indistinguishable high rise in downtown Portland to its present location on the southeast corner of N.W. 19th Avenue and Johnson Street. The Koehler House, named after its original owner, has provided a wonderful environment for a relaxed yet elegant and professional office space for the firm. It has become a focal point for the firm's identity, and has provided a warm and inviting atmosphere for many firm functions.

Over the many years of practice, the firm's culture has continued to promote a healthy, family atmosphere that emphasizes cooperation among management, attorneys and staff, alike. It provides flexibility to accommodate the needs of its personnel and has provided numerous opportunities for professional as well as personal growth and fulfillment.
