Who We Are
The attorneys at Knicely & Associates have been representing clients in legal matters in Williamsburg and neighboring Virginia Peninsula communities, as well as throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for over twenty-five years. The experience and practice of its attorneys includes special litigation and public law matters across the nation and in the Nation's Capital. Attorneys in the firm have also represented the Commonwealth of Virginia and other governmental entities, institutional clients such as universities, banks, builders, non-profit and commercial business entities, and individuals in contract, business, real estate, and civil and constitutional litigation matters in both federal and state courts.
The firm's principal, James J. Knicely, is a graduate of Harvard University Law School, with legal experience extending over 30 years of public and private law practice. Knicely has also been active in numerous community organizations, including past service on the Board of Directors of The Rutherford Institute, Housing Partnerships, Inc., the Virginia Peninsula Swim Union and the James City Rotary Club. Robert Luther III, a magna cum laude graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and a graduate of Ohio Northern Law School, is a legal scholar in constitutional law whose practice focuses on real estate, contracts and civil and constitutional litigation. The Knicely & Associates staff includes experienced paralegals who assist attorneys in real estate and litigation matters.
