Russ Hunt Sr. has practiced criminal law in the Central Texas area for more than 35 years. He is board-certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is also one of very few Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated criminal defense attorneys in Central Texas. Hunt initially served as an assistant criminal district attorney felony prosecutor, but has, for more than 30 years, defended clients, and is capital murder first-chair qualified.
Working with Hunt is his partner Michelle Simpson Tuegel. Tuegel is an extremely bright, energetic, hard-working criminal defense attorney. Working together since early 2011, Hunt and Tuegel have worked as a trial team on capital murder, aggravated sexual assault, and kidnapping cases. Tuegel joined the firm in May 2012. The two regularly handle both misdemeanors and felonies.
Hunt and Tuegel practice throughout Central Texas and they are admitted in the Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of the federal courts of Texas. The majority of their federal cases have been filed in the Western District of Texas, Waco Division. Hunt is also licensed to practice in Minnesota and will travel there to handle federal criminal cases.
Hunt and Tuegel are members of the American Bar Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) , and life members of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) .
