VLO seeks to give clients good value for their money through systems, technology, and people.

SYSTEMS

The quickest route to mistakes is to make it up as you go along. We seek to avoid mistakes and deliver excellence through the consistent use of Procedure Manuals which we also refer to as Systems. These Systems are the culmination of many years of trial and error to make this firm function with the highest degree of efficient professionalism. Our Systems facilitate integrating new employees into the VLO way as quickly as possible. Turnover in any business creates risks and our Systems help to ensure that our high standards are followed from day one.

We have grown from two to twelve employees while improving our work product. We have an approximately one hundred page general office procedure Image Quality (IQ) Manual covering standards down to how to open a new file, drafting, filing, setting Hearings, and client confidentiality. Little things can make a big difference.

We routinely improve these procedures. Many firms experience growth only to lose what made them special after certain point because quality control was sorely overlooked. VLO continues to grow more efficient and successful each year because we set standards. Our Systems assure that the proper steps will be taken throughout a matter because we have checklists and protocols that every employee follows to ensure that the trust placed in us by clients is honored.

We follow a Litigation Plan that addresses how every case will be moved forward so the files are thoroughly and persistently worked up rather than left to languish. An example of good case management is that we hold monthly litigation meetings to discuss all events on the calendar and plan ahead so that we are not preparing at the last minute.

TECHNOLOGY

Technology helps us continuously improve. We like to choose new or upgraded technology. Hardware and software are regularly updated so that efficiencies developed in the computer industry benefit our clients. The firm's computers are networked with a fast server which facilitates communications and ensures that multiple drafts of documents or forms do not exist. Twenty two inch monitors and Windows XP Pro and Server operating systems are used. Backups occur nightly. We are transitioning to a paperless office which improves efficiency. Our print and on-line library is extensive, but the expense is worth it because of the efficiency and effectiveness it gives us.

PEOPLE

If you bring talented people together and obtain their best efforts, amazing things happen. Some firms are nothing more than a collection of individuals working independently under one roof. VLO works in Teams and the Teams can come together to handle even the most challenging tasks.

We are more than willing to jump in to assist a fellow worker who needs help. All our people are sophisticated computer users. This allows us to accomplish more in less time with fewer employees. We have a simple but effective principle that makes this a friendly, professional environment: you have to be talented and nice to work here.
