ABOUT (Mr.) Eric N. Brown

Eric N. Brown has been with the firm since 2006 and became a partner in 2008. Mr. Brown received his BA at Gettysburg College where he majored in History and Asian studies and then attended Vermont Law School where his area of study included both environmental and tax law. After graduating from VLS in 1991, Eric worked in Tokyo in the legal division of the KAO corporation where he served as an associate counsel with a focus on international and trans Asiatic acquisitions. In 1993 Mr. Brown returned to the United States and moved back to East Hampton with his fiance Lisa Schulte.

In East Hampton Mr. Brown first worked as a solo practitioner with a focus on governmental and land use issues. In 1997 he joined the East Hampton Town Attorney's Office as both an Assistant Town Attorney and the Town's Special Prosecuting Attorney. After the 2000 election cycle Mr. Brown was offered the position of General Counsel and Chief of Staff to newly elected East Hampton Town Supervisor Jay H. Schneiderman. In that post Mr. Brown had numerous responsibilities including coordination of labor negotiations, inter-departmental and inter-governmental relations and press relations and assisted the Supervisor and the Town Board in the development of a wide variety of legislative and policy initiatives. Mr. Brown served as Supervisor Schneiderman's Chief of staff for 4 years and thereafter followed Mr. Schneiderman into County Government, again as his Chief of Staff, when Mr. Schneiderman was elected to the post of County Legislator for the Second Legislative District in the Fall of 2003.

In 2006 Mr. Brown left Legislator Schneiderman's staff to join the firm where his practice currently focuses on land use and municipal government. In addition to his practice at Ackerman, O'Brien, Pachman & Brown, LLP, Mr. Brown maintains his own political consulting practice and has worked as a consultant with a specialization in media relations and communications on both local and statewide political campaigns.
