ABOUT Abigail C. Varga

Abbey is a shareholder of the firm with a practice dedicated to problem resolution in a wide variety of civil matters. She frequently represents professionals in matters before a number of different state licensing boards and defends medical providers in malpractice actions in the prelitigation process through trial. Her practice also includes representing and advising both employers and employees on various employment related issues, including compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, employee leave issues under the FMLA, ADA, and other state laws, and on issues involving employee discipline and termination. Abbey’s advocacy also extends to the practice of family law and probate litigation, where she is passionate about protecting and advocating for the rights of individuals during what is often the most difficult time in their lives. She regularly appears before a variety of administrative agencies and in trial and appellate court matters.

Although Abbey’s practice is diverse, her passion for the law and her in-depth understanding of the variety of technical and legal issues in her cases allows her to creatively extricate her clients from unavoidable controversies at the earliest practicable and beneficial juncture, up to and including litigation if necessary.

I believe that the best attorney-client relationships are collaborations, and the greatest partnerships are built on communication. Working together with my colleagues, I am committed to finding comprehensive and practical solutions specific to each client.

Abbey earned her B.A. from Saint Anselm College, cum laude, and her J.D., cum laude, from New England School of Law. Prior to joining the firm Abbey clerked for two years for the Maine Superior Court where she worked closely with the judiciary in a variety of matters during all stages of litigation.

Abbey grew up in central Maine and currently resides in South Portland with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys all that Maine and the greater Portland community have to offer, her never ending list of home projects, and yoga.
