ABOUT Bill Connor

Bill Connor received his Bachelor of Arts from The Citadel in 1990, and after serving for over a decade as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, including three deployments to the Middle East, he received his Juris Doctorate from University of South Carolina in 2005. In 2012, Bill was honored to receive an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®, the top peer rating for American lawyers. Receiving this rating at such an early point in his career is unheard of among lawyers.

Bill is a trial lawyer who spent the first years of his career in Civil defense, but now conducts a general practice with a focus on Civil Litigation, military cases, political cases, and domestic relations. As a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, with over 27 years of commissioned service (active duty and reserve), Bill has unique insights into cases involving the US military. Additionally, Bill was honored with selection to the elite US Army War College, a prerequisite for General Officer, and will graduate in 2018.

Bill is a member of the South Carolina and Federal Bars, as well as other attorney organizations. In addition to his practice and Army Reserve duties, Bill was recently a candidate for Lt. Governor of South Carolina, making the runoff election in the Republican Primary. He serves as the Chairman of South Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District GOP. This political experience has given Bill unique experience with political/legal matters, and he has handled legal issues for top Presidential Candidates like Rick Santorum. Bill’s wife of 26 years, Susan, practices medicine in Orangeburg SC. They have three children, Peyton, Brenna, and Will. Bill served for over five years as board chairman for Orangeburg Christian Academy and is the current President of the Orangeburg Rotary Club.

During service in Afghanistan as an Infantry officer, Bill was promoted to take command of the US advisory effort in the volatile province of Helmand. Shortly after arrival in Helmand, he was promoted in rank from Major to Lt. Colonel. In addition to command of US advisory teams, he was the senior American working with the United Kingdom senior staff. Upon return from Afghanistan, he published the book "Articles from War," a memoir of his experiences and thoughts in Afghanistan. He is now the senior Federal military Officer in South Carolina for Defense Support of Civilian Authorities under US Army North, and has activated to provide support under recent hurricane emergencies.
