Blake’s success in trial and appellate courts throughout the region has led to recognition by the Kansas City Business Journal as “Best of the Bar,” a National Trial Lawyers “Top 100 Trial Lawyer,” and a Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” an honor given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Missouri and Kansas.
Born and raised in Boonville, Missouri, Blake attended the University of Missouri on a Bright Flight Scholarship, graduating in 2004 with a degree in Psychology. Blake attended law school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review and received the CALI Award for Excellence in Evidence. In law school, Blake was selected to national competition teams for trial advocacy, appellate advocacy, and negotiation. Blake graduated law school in 2008 with an Emphasis in Litigation, having spent every semester on the dean’s list.
Following law school, Blake served as a law clerk in Jackson County Circuit Court and assisted the judge in conducting jury trials. Blake began his career in the private sector as a defense attorney specializing in medical malpractice and insurance defense before rededicating his career in 2010 to helping people harmed by the negligent or wrongful acts of others.
Blake is active in the Kansas City community with civic and charitable organizations. He has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City since 2006, as both a “Big” and a member of the Big Impact Group. Blake is the founder of Northland Progress, a nonprofit organization dedicated to implementing forward-thinking policies in the northern Kansas City metro area.
Blake lives in Parkville, Missouri with his wife Melissa and with their two children. In his free time, Blake enjoys fishing, hiking, traveling, and playing the guitar.
