Partner Bryan D. Pyles has 28 years of trial experience in litigating claims of personal injury, sexual harassment, products liability, and construction defect, as well as in representing clients in litigation related to Public Contracts of Construction and business transactions/formations. He also has experience in performing appellate work, having successfully argued cases in the Fourth District Court of Appeal for California. In a products liability lawsuit involving major injuries, Mr. Pyles was able to legally and factually disprove plaintiff's claims of defective design and product failure. Plaintiff completely withdrew all claims against Mr. Pyles' client, a national trailer manufacturer, for a waiver of costs. In a lawsuit involving major injuries flowing from a catastrophic loss of brakes, Mr. Pyles received a dismissal for a waiver of costs for his client, a garage owner whose company performed maintenance on large trucks. Mr. Pyles also has extensive experience in the handling of "mold exposure" personal injury and property damage litigation. Mr. Pyles' construction defect clients have included general contractors, developers, concrete subcontractors, sheet metal subcontractors and waterproofing subcontractors, which has led to an in-depth knowledge related to concrete durability (sulfate and chemical attack), airborne contaminants (mold and fungi), water migration, structural issues and soils issues. In one of the first construction defect cases tried in Orange County Superior Court Mr. Pyles received a defense verdict for his client, a lightweight cellular concrete installer. In a court trial, Mr. Pyles also successfully defended clients in a landslide and subsidence case against the claims of three up-slope plaintiffs. Mr. Pyles has also represented electricians, drywall installers, and retaining wall subcontractors. Business litigation matters handled by Mr. Pyles involve issues ranging from litigation and interpretation of Public Contracts of Construction, to Buy America provisions and compliance, to business formations and dissolutions. Mr. Pyles is admitted to practice before both state and federal courts and is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Mr. Pyles graduated from Western State University, College of Law in December 1987, becoming an associate with the firm in 1988, and partner in 1997.
