Mr. Kershner has an extensive background in criminal matters and prior to joining Simms Showers LLP he served as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Loudoun County, Virginia from June 2006 to January 2009. Mr. Kershner has also had experience as a lobbyist to the U.S. Congress and served in that capacity for ten years.
Criminal Defense: Mr. Kershner devotes much of his practice to criminal and traffic defense. As a former prosecutor, he litigated hundreds of criminal cases — both bench and jury trials. He has represented clients in Federal and State courts throughout Virginia. In his criminal defense practice he has represented those accused of a wide variety of crimes including but not limited to: assault, larceny, drug offenses, DUI, reckless driving, weapons offenses, violent felonies, bad checks, forgery and fraud. Mr. Kershner also has extensive experience in litigating juvenile cases and has taught witness techniques to the cadets at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy.
Personal Injury: Mr. Kershner also has experience in fighting for clients in personal injury suits. Mr. Kershner has successfully represented injured parties for wrongful death, car accident negligence, premises liability, and intentional torts. His extensive courtroom litigation experience as a Prosecuting Assistant Commonwealth Attorney has served him well in Civil Suits for those injured because of another's negligence.
