Carnegie Harvard Mims, III was born and raised on the northside of Houston, Texas. The son of two lawyers, he was destined to be a barrister before he learned to walk. Mr. Mims graduated from Jesse H. Jones Vanguard High School, now known as the Carnegie Vanguard School. He then attended Morehouse College on a full academic scholarship, where he was a reporter for the Maroon Tiger student newspaper and a member of the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Team. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa his junior year and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Morehouse in 2001 with a B.A. in English.
Mr. Mims attended the University of Texas School of Law. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2004 and was admitted to the Texas State Bar the same year. After graduation, he accepted a position as an associate attorney with Davis & Wilkerson, PC in Austin, Texas, where he practiced insurance defense, transactional, school, and probate law for over four years. Mr. Mims then accepted a position as a senior associate with the Houston GEICO Staff Counsel office, where he vigorously defended GEICO policyholders for over seven years and received numerous honors in recognition of his work, including a national award for the most jury trials in 2011.
In 2016, Mr. Mims accepted the position of associate attorney at The Hadi Law Firm. Affectionately referred to as “the Tank,” Mr. Mims is the firm’s most experienced litigator, having tried over 50 cases to jury verdict in the last eight years, including, most recently, a $114,000 verdict in a car wreck case that exceeded the Defendant’s insurance policy limits in Harris County (traditionally one of the most conservative venues for jury verdicts in the State of Texas).
Mr. Mims is married to Aziza (Hines), and the couple has six children. He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. He is also a charcoal and pastel artist and loves to read and write fiction in his spare time.
