ABOUT Charlotte C. Smith

Charlotte C. Smith is an Associate at the Law Offices of Gilda A. Hernandez, PLLC. Ms. Smith focuses her practice on litigating complex class action employment law and wage and hour disputes. Ms. Smith is currently involved in several federal lawsuits, pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act, the North Carolina Wage and Hour Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act.

Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Global Studies, Ms. Smith began her career working in the Human Resources Department of one of the largest insurance companies in the state, where she discovered her passion for helping individuals in the workplace. Ms. Smith then graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Her accomplishments during school include interning with a Paris-based international arbitrator with whom she assisted overseeing the litigation and mediation of private corporate disputes for the International Chamber of Commerce, working for a District Attorney’s Office where she gained meaningful trial experience, and serving in clerkships for The Honorable Judges Wanda G. Bryant and Mark A. Davis at the North Carolina Court of Appeals as well as The Honorable Judge Allen Baddour, Resident Superior Court Judge in Orange and Chatham Counties. She also acted as Managing Editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law, for which she received the Seymour W. Wurfel Award in recognition of her unselfish dedication to helping other members and her managerial leadership of the journal, and was selected to be a member of the Craven Bench, for which her responsibilities included drafting the competition problem for the University of North Carolina School of Law’s annual Holderness Moot Court Craven Competition.
