Mr. Nelson has been defending criminal cases across the state of Idaho for more than 21 years. During that time, his practice has been almost exclusively limited to the area of criminal law. Mr. Nelson has been involved in many high-profile cases where his clients have exonerated by a jury the end of a trial.
Mr. Nelson graduated in 1991 from the University of Idaho School of Law. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney for Blaine County for several years before joining The Roark Law Firm as partner in 1995. Mr. Nelson has been certified by the Idaho Supreme Court to represent defendants who are accused of first degree murder and are facing the death penalty if convicted. He is a lifetime member of the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and past president of the Fifth District Inns of Court. In 2002, Mr. Nelson was awarded the "Gargoyle" Award by the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers which is given "to the Idaho Criminal Defense Lawyer who triumphed over unrelenting and at times unfair pressure from government actors."
Mr. Nelson was raised in the mountains of Colorado and now resides in Hailey. He and his wife, Teresa, and their two children, Anders and Liv, enjoy all forms of outdoor activity.
