Mr. Coughlin has been certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 2004. After serving as a judicial clerk for two judges on the Tennessee Court of Appeals from 1994-95, he has practiced law in Upper East Tennessee ever since, focusing on matters involving personal injury (such as auto accidents) as well as probate and conservatorship estates. He also represents the disabled seeking Social Security Disability and SSI benefits in Southwest Virginia and Tennessee. He served on the Executive Council of Tennessee Bar Association's Litigation Section from 2003-19, chairing the Council in 2012-13.
