Eileen Kroll began her career as a registered nurse, practicing in the surgical intensive care unit of a large hospital in Detroit. She continued to work as a nurse full time while attending law school full time at the University of Detroit School of Law. She graduated with her Juris Doctor in 1990 and has been practicing as an attorney since that time.
Upon graduation, Eileen immediately began specializing in medical malpractice claims. She was a partner at a large law firm in Detroit heading up the medical malpractice department, before joining the Law offices of Cochran, Kroll & Associates. Eileen became a partner at Cochran, Kroll in 2013.
Eileen has personally handled hundreds of cases and has presided over numerous trials. Her unique nursing background brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the firm and along with Eileen’s trial skills, allows her to give her clients the highest quality of representation and expertise. Eileen is the lead trial lawyer on the medical malpractice team and she handles all aspects of medical malpractice litigation and has a variety of experiences in birth trauma litigation, as well as claims involving medical issues in emergency medicine, critical care medicine, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery and other medical negligence cases. More recently, Eileen has started to work with Mass Tort claimants and is developing other products cases to pursue through the firm’s mass tort department.
Kroll was featured in the Livonia, Michigan, Observer newspaper for her expertise in representing women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and used talcum powder for feminine hygiene.
Eileen is devoted to plaintiff litigation and works tirelessly to maximize the outcome of each case. She takes a personal interest in the lives of her clients. Recent past settlements Eileen has negotiated for her clients include a $9 million settlement for a brain injured man and a $3.8 million settlement for a brain injured child, among multiple other million dollar plus settlements. Eileen is a member of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) as well as the Medical Negligence section with AAJ. She regularly attends meetings and seminars in an ongoing effort to provide the most state of the art techniques to help maximize her client’s recovery. Eileen has also participated in AAJ’s national lobbying days in Washington D.C. in an effort to represent the interests of her clients to Congress. She has personally met with Senators and members of Congress in D.C to help educate them on various legal issues that may have an impact on cases.
As a member of the Michigan Association for Justice for more than 25 years, Eileen has devoted her time and financial resources to the fight for victim’s rights. She is also a member of the Negligence Section of the State Bar of Michigan and has been a frequently invited speaker at both MAJ and State Bar seminars and programs.
Community service is important to Eileen and she is a member of several different organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors of her church, participated in a variety of community outreach programs, including volunteering at Gleaner’s food bank, Seedlings Braille Books for the Blind events, making blankets for the homeless and working at warming centers in Detroit.
On a personal note, Eileen is married and has one child, who remains the center of her universe. Eileen’s personal interests include attending her son’s sports activities, cooking, gardening, singing, acting in community theater and playing with her beautiful golden retriever.
