James Humphreys is among West Virginia’s Top 100 Lawyers and for five consecutive years, was named one of West Virginia's Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers. In 2011 and 2012, James Humphreys was featured in West Virginia Super Lawyers. He has twice received the West Virginia Association of Justice Legislator of the Year Award and is an AV-rated lawyer from Martindale-Hubble with a score of 5.0, the highest mark attainable.
Humphreys previously served as chairman in both the West Virginia House of Delegates on the Constitutional Revision Committee and in the West Virginia Senate on the Judiciary Committee. He was also formerly employed by United States Senator John Glenn and Ralph Nader with consumer protection group Public Citizen.
Humphreys serves on the executive board for West Virginia Association for Justice and board of directors for the Public Justice Foundation. He is a past chairman for the Brain Injury Association of America.
Humphreys received his Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University and Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University School of Law.
