ABOUT James M. Bushee

Jim Bushee represents clients nationally in the electric power, natural gas and environmental sectors, focusing on electric infrastructure development and utility regulation. Jim practices before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), the Texas Railroad Commission and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, and he has appeared in regulatory proceedings in California, Iowa, Wyoming and Florida.

As part of Jim’s infrastructure development practice, he advises on the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act and natural resource issues.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland (US), Jim was a member of the Legal Staff of the General Motors Energy and Environmental group and was also Environmental and Energy counsel for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Experience

Represents Sharyland Utilities before the Public Utilities Commission of Texas, including as lead counsel for general rate case and certificate of convenience and necessity proceedings for the construction of electric transmission facilities.
Represents Hunt Power in electric infrastructure development projects throughout the Southwest, including FERC, Bureau of Land Management and state authorizations necessary to construct and operate electrical transmission facilities.
Represents clients on cross-border electric infrastructure projects, including U.S. Department of Energy Presidential Permits for the construction of electrical connections with Mexico and authorizations for the international export of electricity.
Represents lenders in regulatory due diligence matters.
