Jerry W. Pearson

Jerry specializes in representing management in labor and employment issues and making sure his clients stay in compliance with the State and Federal labor laws. He has successfully defended Kern County employers in wage and hour matters, as well as cases alleging harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination and other labor-related issues before the California State Superior Court, the California Labor Commissioner and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

In his representation of employers, Jerry has also drafted and helped implement Return to Work/Interactive Process programs, which help employers and their employees determine if reasonable accommodations exist for the employee’s return to work from injury or disability leave. He has also authored various employee handbooks for numerous employers, both large and small. Jerry prides himself on getting to know his clients and their businesses before he represents them, so that he can provide optimal legal counsel that is tailored to the specific client and need. His clients include Adventist Health’s San Joaquin Community Hospital, which recently opened the state-of-the-art AIS Cancer Center; Jess Smith & Sons Cotton; Memorial Occupational Medicine; and the full-service construction firm of the S.C. Anderson Family of Companies.

Jerry is a member of the California State Bar Association and serves on the boards of directors for Stockdale Christian School and the Kern County Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

In July of 2008 Jerry was named the Best Business/Employment Attorney by the Kern County Bar Association.

Jerry was born in Torrance, Calif., but grew up in Fresno where he also attended college. He received his Bachelor’s degree in history from California State University Fresno and his Juris Doctorate from San Joaquin College of Law, also in Fresno.

When not working hard at representing employers, Jerry likes to spend time with his wife Denise and their daughters Lindsay and Emily. The Pearsons live and die with the Boston Red Sox each year, especially during their annual week-long trip to Fenway Park.
