ABOUT Jessica L. Martyn

Ms. Martyn focuses her practice on admiralty and maritime litigation and transactional matters, with experience in matters involving vessel and cargo casualties, limitation of liability, personal injury and wrongful death defense, general average, marine insurance and coverage, salvage, criminal liability, environmental liability, maritime contracts, marine finance and liens, and vessel regulation. Before joining the firm she practiced admiralty and maritime law for six years in Norfolk, Virginia. Ms. Martyn served as a Brief Judge for the Twentieth and Twenty-First Annual Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition and as Lead Author for "Recent Developments in Admiralty and Maritime Law", Torts Trial and Insurance Practice Law Journal, Vol. 49, Issue 1 (2013) and Vol. 48, Issue 1 (2012). Ms. Martyn is Chair-elect of the American Bar Association Torts Trial and Insurance Practice Section's Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee. She has served on the Board of Governors of the Propeller Club of Norfolk, Board of Directors of the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council, Board of Directors of the Virginia Offshore Wind Coalition, as Norfolk Port Director for the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, and as Maritime Law Association Young Lawyers Committee liaison to the International Organizations Conventions & Standards, Continuing Legal Education and Offshore Industries Committees.
