One thing becomes clear when you meet John Peck: he’s a character. His enthusiasm and charisma have helped him this far, and his passion for his work drives him to be better every day.
John grew up in New Haven, CT, playing little league and obsessing over baseball statistics. Civil litigation is in his bones, as he grew up in the court room with his grandfather, aunts and uncles, most of whom have been judges and lawyers. He played football in high school as one of the smallest, but toughest players out there. He credits that experience with teaching him to always address problems directly and quickly.
John graduated from Hopkins School and went on to Hobart College, where he played football, served as student government president, and cultivated an obsession with the law and public service. John wrote his thesis on government organization, diving into the minutia of why we have laws in the first place. If you ask him, his most thrilling brushes with fame have been with politicians and critical thinkers.
John wanted to be a lawyer ever since sitting with his grandfather and banging a judge’s gavel on the dinner table as a child. That desire was only solidified in high school, college, and at Suffolk Law School. He’s focused his interest in civil litigation to become one of the most creative and resourceful lawyers in the Commonwealth. John sticks to the mantra of his colleagues, holding client service as the most important aspect of this business. He prides himself on always calling clients back and being available to help with any and all legal issues that come up in the day-to-day.
John always welcomes – and is excited by – new cases with novel issues each client brings to the office. The lessons from football stick with him today; he takes problems on immediately and head-on. That attitude coupled with his love for problem solving and creativity have made him one of the most successful attorneys for his clients in Massachusetts. His recent nomination as a rising star in the Commonwealth’s legal community is a testament to that accolade.
Today, when he’s not reading court decisions or playing with his dog, he’s golfing or skiing. John is still committed to public service, volunteering for local and national causes. He was a chef for 8 years prior to practicing law, working his way through college and law school, and he makes an exceptional paella.
