Since 2004, John has diligently worked in various roles in family law firms, beginning as a paralegal for a number of years, then as a law clerk while attending law school, and as an attorney after graduation from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2012. His experience ranges from uncontested divorce cases with agreed upon distribution of assets, to highly contested matters with large estates and complex issues. His practice includes custody and support cases, as well as any and all matters in the area of family law. John handles conciliation and settlement conferences and negotiation, and trial work as the case may dictate, with equal passion and competence.
John is also well-versed in appellate practice, having successfully argued many cases before the Superior and Commonwealth Courts of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his practice in the area of family law, John has experience representing media clients in disputes with government bodies, in drafting municipal ordinances and otherwise counseling municipalities in their legal responsibilities. John has also represented clients in criminal, civil and traffic matters.
John has lived in Pittsburgh since 2009. He moved from Columbus, Ohio after graduating from Denison University with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. He also graduated from the Richard G. Lugar Program in Politics and Public Service at Denison University.
John is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he sits on the GLBT Rights Committee, Appellate Advocacy Committee, and Law-Related Education Committee. He is the immediate past editor of “Open Court,” the newsletter of the GLBT Rights Committee, and was the Vice-Chair of the Law-Related Education Committee. During law school, John served in the Family Law Clinic where he represented impoverished clients in custody disputes.
John is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
John lives near downtown Pittsburgh with his husband and their dog.
