Jonathan Ramsey is an experienced personal injury attorney who is committed to helping accident victims demand the compensation they need and the justice they deserve. As a skilled trial lawyer, he has earned a reputation for successfully taking on large, deep-pocketed insurance companies that have tried to minimize or deny compensation to innocent people who have suffered severe, life-altering injuries. As part of the dedicated personal injury team at Fine, Farkash & Parlapiano, P.A., in Gainesville, Florida, Jonathan works to ensure accident victims are not victimized a second time by insurance adjusters or defense attorneys. He has seen insurance companies rush to offer people drop-in-the-bucket settlements in the aftermath of catastrophic accidents that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. He has seen insurance adjusters twist victims’ words to use against them. He knows how complex cases can get. That is why Jonathan chose to focus his practice on helping personal injury victims. “I have seen first-hand how much pressure accident victims face when they are struggling to recover from an injury, unable to work and barely able to make ends meet,” he says. “I believe that helping people is my calling. I do everything in my power to ease their burdens and take the pressure off my clients. I take over all communication with the insurance adjusters, let medical providers know there is a case pending, and even help clients find specialists if they are having a hard time getting treatment. Ultimately, I want my clients’ sole focus to be on their recovery, not their claim.” Although Jonathan is not a native Floridian, he has lived in the Sunshine State most of his life. After moving from the small town of York, Nebraska, when he was 3, his family settled in Miami, Florida. Jonathan lived in Miami until he finished high school, graduating as valedictorian of his class. He then went on to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University. Jonathan spent time interning at the university’s newspaper and the school radio station while at Florida State. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in just 3½ years. Jonathan worked for a few years before making the decision to return to school for his Master’s in Political Science, this time attending the University of Florida in Gainesville. He put his education to good use, working on several political campaigns, including as a campaign manager on a winning campaign. After graduating with his Master’s Degree, Jonathan enrolled in the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law. While in law school, he earned the “Book Award” in the class Trial Practice, achieving recognition as the top student in the class. He was also awarded certificates for his pro bono work and for an emphasis in criminal justice law. Initially, Jonathan’s passion in law was criminal justice. During law school, he spent time interning and volunteering at the State Attorney’s Office. Upon graduation from law school, he took a job as an Assistant State Attorney in the Eighth Judicial Circuit. The State Attorney’s Office sent him to a weeklong seminar where Jonathan was recognized for his trial skills. Although he started his career in the Levy County Office, Jonathan moved to the Alachua County Office after several months. There, he worked in the General Misdemeanor Division, where he was partnered with respected traffic prosecutor Julie Fine. Jonathan then moved to the Traffic Division, where his excellent work led to him being nominated by local law enforcement and recognized in 2014 by Mothers Against Drunk Driving with the Prosecutor Award of Excellence. In fall 2015, Jonathan was promoted to the office’s Felony Division, where he tried multiple cases to verdict and won convictions. Now, Jonathan uses the trial skills he honed while working at the State Attorney’s Office to advocate for victims of personal injury. At Fine, Farkash & Parlapiano, P.A., he handles a broad range of cases, including car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, premises liability claims, construction accidents, and wrongful death cases. “Growing up, people always told me I should become a lawyer because I was talented at arguing,” he says. “Being a lawyer was not something that appealed to me, though. The thought of being stuck in an office and doing billable hours was something that simply didn’t interest me. It wasn’t until I got older, and realized how much I could help people, that I really understood how important it is for people to have a strong advocate in the justice system.” Outside of the office, Jonathan enjoys serving his community and spending time with his wife and three cats. “I wanted two, my wife wanted three, so we compromised and got three,” he jokes about his furry family members
