ABOUT Joseph J. Zonies

Joseph Zonies is the founding member of Zonies Law LLC and leads the firm‘s mass tort and personal injury practice groups. In addition, he has litigated cases against and on behalf of large corporations. Currently Joe is very active in a number of mass tort litigations, including litigation related to birth defects associated with the use of antidepressants during pregnancy and injuries related to trans-vaginal mesh. Joe is Co-Lead of the In re Effexor Products Liability Multi-District Litigation, on the Plaintiffs' Executive Committee in the In re Zoloft Products Liability Multi-District Litigation and on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in the In re Ethicon Trans-Vaginal Mesh Multi-District Litigation. In addition, Joe has been in the leadership of and/or has represented thousands of clients in other pharmaceutical mass tort litigations, including litigations related to Avandia, Actos, Paxil, Topamax, DePuy and Zimmer Hip, Baycol, Zyprexa, Vioxx and Ephedra where he has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients. Joe earned his B.A. in Communications and Theater from the University of Notre Dame. After spending several years acting and producing and directing music videos, he attended the University of Denver College of Law. There, he graduated first in his law school class. After law school, Joe clerked for the Honorable John C. Porfilio in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2011 under the specialty of “Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiff” and has been designated one of the "Top 100 Lawyers" in Colorado Super Lawyers®. In 2015, he was named a State Litigation Star and a Local Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation. He was also featured on the inaugural 5280 “Top Lawyers” list in 2015 in the area of personal injury: plaintiff.
