Julia McNelis is a principal who focuses her practice on medical malpractice defense. In over 25 years her practice has included birth trauma and all types of personal injury defense. Ms. McNelis brings to her practice several years of experience working as a registered nurse and extra-corpeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technician, which provides her with a unique understanding of her clients’ medical issues.
As part of her distinguished legal practice, Ms. McNelis has presented educational programs to nurses and physicians covering numerous issues related to birth trauma, care of patients and charting. She has also served as a guest lecturer to nurse practitioner students at Wayne State University on liability issues.
Ms. McNelis is AV Peer Review Rated by LexisNexis/Martindale-Hubbell. The AV Peer Review rating is the highest rating allowed. It attests to a lawyer’s legal ability and professional ethics, and reflects the confidential opinions of the Bar and the Judiciary.
Ms. McNelis received her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, where she was a member of the National Championship Moot Court Team. She also earned a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Michigan.
Ms. McNelis is actively involved in Project H.E.L.P. (Homeless Experiencing Legal Protection Clinics), clinics that provide a basic level of legal advice and counsel at the Saints Peter & Paul Warming Center in Detroit.
