Mr. O’Leary has had his own law practice for over 18 years. Prior to that, he was a Partner in the international business firm, Williams, Woolley, Cogswell, Nakazawa & Russell LLP. He has represented individuals to global Fortune 500 companies and has practiced in California and Washington. He is recognized as one of the top 20 personal injury lawyers in Seattle (Expertise, 2018).
In addition to private practice, Mr. O’Leary has served as a Special Assistant State’s Attorney for the State of Connecticut, prosecuting criminal appeals, a Litigation Attorney for Shell Oil Company, handling both inland and offshore oil rig accidents and environmental matters, and Counsel to the Senate Constitutional Law Committee of the Maryland Senate during the 1984 Legislative Session, where he assisted in working on Maryland’s first Lemon Law and other legislation.
During law school, Mr. O’Leary served as an Extern Law Clerk for Hon. Rita C. Davidson, Associate Judge (Dec.) on Maryland’s Court of Appeals, Maryland’s Highest Court. He also served as a Law Clerk with the Customs Branch of the U.S. Department of the Treasury on smuggling issues.
Mr. O’Leary is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubbell Corporation, the highest rating for legal ability and ethical conduct awarded. He also holds a “Superb” (highest) rating with AVVO, and was ranked in the top 10 solo practice corporate lawyers in Los Angeles by CitySpur “Best of LA” (2009). He received a “Special Recognition Award” for litigation at Shell Oil Company.
Mr. O’Leary has always been active in the legal community, and has served as a volunteer Arbitrator with the Long Beach branch of the Los Angeles Superior Court, and as volunteer Settlement Officer with the U.S. District Court, Central District (Los Angeles).
Mr. O’Leary is a volunteer with United Way and the Head Start reading program.
When not practicing, Mr. O’Leary can usually be found out on Puget Sound on “Allegro,” his Cape Dory sailboat.
