Kevin D. Heard is the managing member of Heard Ary, LLC. Mr. Heard has over twenty years experience in representing businesses in restructuring their debts both in bankruptcy as well as outside bankruptcy.
Mr. Heard has extensive experience in handling complex business negotiations and contracts. Mr. Heard represents a number of mid-size businesses involved in all aspects of the economy from government contracting, defense, Internet sales and marketing, to construction, trucking and retail sales. Mr. Heard has represented each of these types of companies in various commercial transactions including contract negotiation and interpretation, debt restructuring, analyzing cash flow requirements and projections, buy-outs, wind-ups, and the purchase and sale of assets. In addition to representing individuals and companies in business transactions, Mr. Heard has extensive experience in civil litigation. Mr. Heard has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in the civil litigation arena. Mr. Heard has been lead attorney and litigated numerous cases involving issues such as breach of contract, corporate oppression, civil conspiracy; minority shareholder rights; fraud; suppression and a variety of business torts.
Mr. Heard is board certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. Certification means that Mr. Heard has met rigorous, objective standards relating to experience, continuing legal education in bankruptcy law, integrity and peer review in addition to demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of bankruptcy law. In addition, Mr. Heard was recognized in 2008 as a "Super Lawyer". Mr. Heard received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, School of Criminology in 1984. Mr. Heard graduated cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1987. He was an Associate Editor on the Cumberland Law Review and was recipient of the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University Curia Honoris Award. Prior to beginning his private practice, Mr. Heard clerked for The Honorable Thomas Virgil Pittman on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.
