Marian began her career in the music industry and spent many years as a musician and music teacher. That experience provided many opportunities to help, encourage and promote self-confidence with students from kindergarten through college. While teaching, she was named Teacher Rights Chairperson; her duties were to listen to the teacher’s problems and discuss possible resolutions. Marian was also a member of a three-panel group who negotiated salaries, benefits and working conditions for teachers in the school district. This group researched contracts at other districts, determined the needs and wants of teachers in the district, and developed a plan to reach their goals.
The challenges of negotiating and satisfying all persons involved led Marian to attend law school, where she met Rebecca Bell. Upon graduation and acceptance to the MN Bar Association, Marian was accepted into the NEA Attorney Referral Program. She received numerous referrals and retired many years later.
In 2015, Marian joined rb LEGAL, LLC as “Of Counsel” – an honor that she cherishes and is proud to hold. Even though her official status is “retired,” she is proud to be part of this outstanding firm. The attorneys and staff members do not “watch the clock” – ensuring that sufficient time is given to each client to discuss and address their needs.
