ABOUT Matthew K. Hawkins

Mr. Hawkins is currently on a leave of absence serving with Shannon as Mission Presidents for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Mr. Hawkins joined McCormick Barstow after completing law school in 1987. In 1992, he relocated to Modesto, California, to open McCormick Barstow’s Modesto branch office. He has extensive jury trial experience in the courts of the Central Valley.

Experience

Mr. Hawkins’ jury trial experience includes the representation of clients in a broad range of civil disputes, including employment, medical malpractice and general tort cases. He has been called upon to serve as a mediator in court referred and private mediations. He is certified at Pepperdine as a mediator and is fluent in Spanish.

Mr. Hawkins is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Hawkins is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated with Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Hawkins was selected for inclusion in the Northern California Super Lawyers list (2006, 2009-2018) for his primary area of practice in Civil Litigation Defense. He has an Avvo rating of Excellent.

Community Involvement

Mr. Hawkins has served as an officer in various charitable, religious, and civic organizations, including The Gallo Center for the Performing Arts.
