After law school, Matt was immediately launched into the courtroom operating in state and federal court in many different areas of litigation including commercial litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury, consumer class actions, and condemnation. Recently Matt has spent a majority of his time prosecuting lender liability claims against banks. Mr. Buckmiller has successfully tried several cases and arbitrations. He obtained a $750,000.00 verdict in Columbus County on a personal injury matter. Also, in May of 2012, he won the first known jury verdict in North Carolina finding a violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act by a Bank. The verdict was selected by North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly as the #1 Defense Verdict of 2013. Over the last few years he has represented debtors on loans ranging from $100,000.00 to $50,000,000.00 and has saved his clients tens of millions of dollars.
Matt was born in Englewood, New Jersey and spent most his life in the Metropolitan New York City, New York area. Matt attended Columbia University, where he graduated with a B.A. degree and was a dual major in Economics and Politics Science. Mr. Buckmiller also was a 4-year starter for the Columbia Lions baseball team and was voted All Ivy League twice. In his senior year, he was selected as an All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, won the Ivy League Triple Crown, and was selected for All-Ivy League academic honors. He played professional baseball for a short time after graduation from college and decided to attend Temple University where he obtained his J.D. and M.B.A. in three years. Mr. Buckmiller graduated with distinction from the law and business schools at Temple, and was selected as a Distinguished Class Performer in Trial Advocacy.
