A graduate of Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado summa cum laude and University of Baltimore Law School magna cum laude, Michael has been practicing law since 2011. He specializes in handling workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. He has been selected by Super Lawyers every year since 2016 as a Rising Star in Virginia – an exclusive list of excelling workers’ compensation attorneys under the age of 40. A member of the Virginia and Maryland Bars, Michael has been admitted to practice in all state courts in Virginia and Maryland, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
Michael has enthusiastically represented many injured clients in personal injury and workers’ compensation cases to settlement and verdict. When someone is injured at work, many benefits are available to that injured worker, including workers’ compensation, a third party claim, SSDI, VRS, long and short term disability, and other benefits. Michael is experienced in considering the complicated interplay between all of these benefits when pursuing his clients’ cases.
Michael has successfully argued cases on appeal before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Court of Appeals of Virginia. He enjoys legal argument, and he will tirelessly pursue creative angles to secure benefits on behalf of his clients. Michael is also an active member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group, and American Association for Justice, as well as various local bar associations. He is also a members of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court, where he is an active subcommittee member participating in discussion of issues with workers’ compensation rules and law.
Earlier in his career, Michael handled a wider variety of legal matters, though he is now enjoying the narrower focus of advocating on behalf of injured workers. Originally from Delaware, Michael has made Richmond, Virginia his home. While not working, he enjoys worldwide travel, sports, hiking, and spending his time with his family. Michael also has a ardent interest in helping his community, including his involvement on leadership committee for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
