David currently serves as “Of Counsel” to the firm. Because he began his practice of law in 1973, he offers a long term perspective on the art of legal representation. The basis of that representation is trust - trust that David not only has his client’s interests at heart, but also that his clients feel comfortable enough to ask every question, and explore every option.
David’s practice is now focused on business, estate planning and probate, residential and commercial real estate matters, and in particular, preserving family properties. His former and current clients include, among others, both large and small businesses, large and small estates, and scores of families looking for ways to continue to hold on to their cottages or camps in a democratic and fair family entity.
David R. Weiss is a 1973 cum laude graduate of University of Wisconsin Law School. He has been licensed to practice in the states of Maine, Washington, and Wisconsin, as well as in the Tax Court and various Federal Courts. David is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the Bath Brunswick Bar Association, and the National Association of Bar Presidents, and is on the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar Transitioning Lawyers Council. He has served as President of the Bath Area Chamber of Commerce; Treasurer of the Bath Area YMCA; Coach, League Vice President and Director of Referrees for the Bath Area Recreational Soccer League; Assistant Coach of the Bath Babe Ruth league; Member (1991-2006), past President (1998-2000), and current Emeritus Trustee of the Maine Maritime Museum Board of Trustees; and President of the Maine State Bar Association (1989). David has also served on the MSBA Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution, and on the Maine Judicial Council Committee on ADR, and is a past member of the Washington State Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. David lives in Arrowsic with his wife, Sandy.
