April was born in Beaumont, Texas and received her B.A. from the University of Houston. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she worked as a manager for a focus group facility, which conducted focus groups for national and international businesses. She also worked for a jury consulting firm as an assistant trial director, attending mock trials across the country and assisting with jury research. After a year in the northeast, April returned to Houston to attend South Texas College of Law.
While at South Texas, April participated in moot court and mock trial competitions, earning several advocacy awards. She also served as the Managing Editor of the Construction Law Journal and as a member of the South Texas Law Review. During her second year, she co-authored a law review article on foreign legal consultants, and her student comment received the Alumni Association Award for Best Law Review Article. April worked as an intern for United States District Judge David Hittner, Judge Tim Taft of the First Court of Appeals of Texas, and the United States Attorney’s Office while in law school. And during her final year, April worked as a law clerk for The Ammons Law Firm.
After graduation, April served as the Briefing Attorney for the Honorable Michael Keasler on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Texas’s highest criminal court. Following her clerkship, she joined the firm as an associate in 2007. In January 2012, April became a Partner with The Ammons Law Firm.
April handles automotive and tire defect cases, catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Since joining The Ammons Law Firm, she has devoted her career to representing plaintiffs.
From 2013–2017, April was named to the Super Lawyers Rising Star list.
While at The Ammons Law Firm, April has handled over 150 cases representing both injured individuals as well as the families of those who lost their lives in accidents.
