Linda I. Braithwaite focuses her practice on representing clients in Trinity, throughout West Florida, and statewide in complex family law disputes, including divorce, child custody, equitable distribution, step-parent adoptions, dependency and support matters, as well as assisting in the formation of prenuptial agreements and domestic partnerships.
In addition, she is a Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and is trained in Collaborative Family Practice. In the collaborative family law process, the parties to a divorce agree to avoid litigation and resolve all issues through peaceful negotiation and a truly respectful approach.
Ms. Braithwaite is a Specialist in Marital Law and Family Law, as certified by the Florida Board of Legal Specialization as an expert in the area of Family Law. Ms. Braithwaite’s active involvement in the legal community includes serving on various committees in the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee in the Sixth Judicial Circuit and the Grievance Committee in the Sixth Judicial Circuit. She is a member of the Florida Chapter of the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts and is frequently appointed as a Guardian ad Litem in the 6th Judicial Court for Pinellas and Pasco County. Ms. Braithwaite has also participated in the Justice Teaching Program, which aims to benefit students by promoting an understanding of Florida’s justice system and laws and school career days at several schools in Pasco County. In recognition of her work, family law attorney Ms. Braithwaite has been awarded a Distinguished AV peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys and the Rising Star award by the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.
Her clients also include individuals facing criminal charges or bankruptcy in conjunction with divorce and plaintiffs needing advocacy in personal injury claims.
A native of Hialeah, Ms. Braithwaite is a graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor with Honors. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of South Florida and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1992.
