She combined the latest estate and business planning strategies with experienced counsel to provide clients with extraordinary legal services and top-notch client care.

Marianne is committed to not only drafting a personalized estate plan, but also helping clients implement it. When she was just out of law school 20 years ago, her grandmother died. While she had a will and trust in place, the attorney had not helped her organize and transfer her assets into the trust. She and her dad spent many late nights locating disorganized assets and navigating probate. Also, even though her grandmother lived frugally, because she also didn’t have an ongoing relationship with her attorney, the attorney never addressed tax issues that arose when her assets appreciated, resulting in a large tax at her death.

Proper planning and implementation can help avoid these types of situations and can ease the burden of loved ones during difficult times. Marianne provide clients with help, education and support with their estate plans so they can achieve their family and business goals and have peace of mind and predictability for their loved ones and business.

Career

After law school and a judicial internship, Marianne practiced Estate Planning, Business Law, and Tax Law in a Washington D.C. law firm that focused on the unique needs of business owners. She then served as in-house legal counsel to a technology company where she drafted and negotiated hundreds of contracts and advised the company on legal matters.

Marianne took a break from practicing law to raise her children. During this time, she continued to take continuing legal education courses to stay up-to-date on estate and business planning issues. During this time she was active in her community including serving on the school community council, PTA Board, Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy Board, and serving as a Mock Trial attorney coach. She also found meaningful opportunities to serve the legal needs of people in her community.

Marianne founded Sundance Law Group in 2015 - a law firm focused on helping families in Utah protect their families and businesses through estate and business planning. She joined Jones Waldo in 2018 where she continues her focus on estate and business planning as well as estate administration.
