ABOUT Rachel A. Sternlieb

Having practiced for three years at the law firm of Gainsburgh, Benjamin, David, Meunier & Warshauer, LLC, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Rachel A. Sternlieb joined Burg Simpson in December of 2016 where she focuses her practice principally in the areas of complex, pharmaceutical and medical device mass tort and class action litigation. Before joining Burg Simpson, Ms. Sternlieb represented clients in medical malpractice, products liability, mass tort and general and maritime personal injury cases throughout Louisiana.

Originally from Georgia, Ms. Sternlieb received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia in 2010 and then went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2013. While in Law School, Ms. Sternlieb served as an editor of Loyola's Journal of Public Interest Law and earned awards for receiving the highest grade in both her Contracts II and Maritime Rights, Remedies and Damages in a Marine Disaster classes. Additionally, during her final years of Law school, Ms. Sternlieb participated in a judicial externship with the Honorable Jay C. Zainey (District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana) and worked closely on the In re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig “Deepwater Horizon” in the Gulf of Mexico Multidistrict Litigation (MDL 2179) before the Honorable Carl H. Barbier (District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana), working in both class settlement and phase one trial components of the litigation.

Throughout the course of her three years of practice in New Orleans, Ms. Sternlieb served as a member of the trial team in the In re: Chinese-Manufactured Drywall Products Liability Litigation (MDL. 2047) overseen by the Honorable Eldon E. Fallon (District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana), in which she also participated heavily in both briefing and discovery efforts undertaken by members of the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee.

For two years, Ms. Sternlieb had the pleasure and honor of serving on the Board of Directors of Traveler's Aid Society of Greater New Orleans, a non-profit organization committed to preventing homelessness and helping homeless or stranded families and individuals regain self-sufficiency. She was also selected for and served as a member of the Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans class of 2016.
