ABOUT Richard A. Roberts

A shareholder at the law firm Howard, Lewis & Petersen, P.C., Rich focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, commercial and business law (including transactional work of organizing businesses, drafting contracts and leases, as well as litigating entity disputes and breaches), general civil litigation (including medical malpractice and personal injury), and appellate advocacy. Rich has substantial trial experience dealing with complex civil and criminal cases, including jury trials. He is admitted to the state and federal courts in Utah.

Rich received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Utah in 2001. In 2005, Rich earned a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Montana. Rich returned to the University of Utah and received a Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2008. During law school, Rich served as the director of the Global Justice Think Tank, and was awarded the Edwin Brown Firmage Student Award in International Law and Human Rights; he also received the Leadership scholarship.

Raised in the shadows of Provo's peaks, Rich remains active hiking the Wasatch and Uintah mountains. He is an active participant in local community events, especially live music and volunteers each summer with Provo's Rooftop Concert Series. With his continued passion for language and literature, Rich regularly teaches as an adjunct professor in Utah Valley University's English Department and enjoys such opportunities to be in the classroom setting exploring and discussing rhetoric and argumentatitve writing.
