Ron concentrates his practice in the areas of debtors’ and creditors’ rights, emphasizing both business and consumer insolvency/bankruptcy law and out-of-court workouts. Listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2008 and most recently named to the 2014 edition, his practice includes the representation of debtors and creditors in all facets of insolvency matters. Businesses and individuals rely upon his counsel in numerous other commercial situations, including transactions and dispute resolution matters, collections, mechanic’s liens, and a variety of other general business situations. Since 2006, Mr. Roteman has maintained certification from the American Board of Certification as a specialist in both consumer and business bankruptcy law, and has been listed since 2010 in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers (named a Top 50 Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2011). Ron is also a Martindale-Hubbell AV peer review rated attorney.
Most recently, Ron has expanded his practice areas to include various aspects of oil and gas law, including leasing and other transactional work, and litigation.
Before joining the firm in 2009, Ron practiced for fourteen years with the firm of Campbell & Levine following a two-year clerkship with the Honorable L. Edward Friend, II, of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Ron is the immediate past President of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and a member of the national board of trustees, past chair of the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section Council of the ACBA, a current member of the Ethics Committee of the ACBA, for a period of over 6 years ending June 30, 2012 was a member of the board of directors of Southwinds, Inc., a charitable nonprofit organization serving adults with developmental challenges, and currently serves as a member of the bylaws committee of the Temple Emanuel of the South Hills. He is a frequent speaker on various insolvency related matters.
Mr. Roteman earned a B.S. in accounting from Penn State University and an MBA and JD from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Allegheny County, and West Virginia bars, the third and fourth circuit courts of appeals, and the district courts for the western district of Pennsylvania and the northern and southern districts of West Virginia.
