Attorney Houde is a trial and appellate lawyer practicing in the areas of municipal liability, premises liability, insurance coverage, Connecticut tribal law, personal and commercial auto, UM/UIM, and general litigation. He is a member of Kalon’s founding team and is the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
Prior to joining Kalon, Attorney Houde was an associate at an insurance defense firm in Hartford. He also served as a clerk to the Honorable Judges of the Hartford Superior Court.
Attorney Houde seeks efficient and effective resolution of all his representative matters. This often involves drafting and arguing motions to dismiss, to strike, and/or for summary judgment. The following cases are some examples of dispositive motions decided in favor of his clients:
Cyr. v. VKB, Superior Court, judicial district of Hartford, Docket No. HHD-CV-16-6073644-S (June 15, 2018) (motion for summary judgment granted in favor of property owner abutting public sidewalk holding no affirmative act on part of property owner).
Gonzalez v. Thomas, Superior Court, judicial district of New Haven, Docket No. NNH-CV-17-6070068-S (Jan. 31, 2018) (motion to strike granted in favor of Town and Tree Warden holding negligence as alleged could not support a proper cause of action).
Hines v. Metropolitan, Superior Court, judicial district of Hartford, Docket No. HHD-CV-15-6059947-S (May 22, 2017) (summary judgment granted in favor of insurer holding interpretation of policy exclusion was valid and substantially congruent with regulatory language).
Weed v. State of Connecticut, Superior Court, judicial district of New London, Docket No. KNL-CV-15-6024544-S (March 21, 2017) (motion to strike all negligence counts against municipality granted based on doctrine of governmental immunity).
